Old Fashioned Chocolate Cobbler is a quick cure for that need for something chocolate. Just the aroma of chocolate filling the house makes it worth it. Quick, easy, really delicious.
1 cup All Purpose Flour
3/4 cup Granulated White Sugar
2 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 Tablespoons Butter, melted
1/2 cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla Flavoring
For the filling:
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
1/2 cup Granulated White Sugar
1/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1 cup cold Water
Pre-heat your oven to 375F degrees.
Spray or butter a small baking dish or 8” x 8” baking pan.
Place flour in a medium sized mixing bowl.
Add cocoa powder.
Use a whisk to mix everything together well. Set aside for now.
Melt the butter in another small mixing bowl.
Add the milk.
Add vanilla flavoring.
Mix wet ingredients together until fully combined.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
Gently mix everything together with a spatula until fully combined.
Pour batter into greased baking dish. Jiggle the pan so it spreads out evenly.
Prepare the filling mixture.
Place brown sugar in another small mixing bowl.
Add the white sugar.
Add the cocoa powder. Mix together until fully combined.
Spread this dry mixture evenly over the top of the batter in your baking dish.
Gently pour the cup of cold water over the entire top of the dish. DO NOT STIR.
Place the pan in the 375F degree pre-heated oven.
Bake for 35-40 minutes until edges are crisp and center of cobbler is fairly dry on top.
Remove from oven when done. Place on wire rack to cool.
Let cool for 15 minutes prior to serving. It will firm up more as it cools.
Make it a true cobbler by adding some sliced strawberries to the mixture. Or, maybe even more chocolate flavor by adding some chocolate chips. Lots of possibilities with this cobbler.
