Baked Crab Dip, in a bread bowl. Perfect appetizer for the next big game, or family get together. Easy to make and can be made with Imitation Crab Meat or the canned crab meat. Your choice.
1 package Cream Cheese, softened (8oz)
2 cups Sour Cream
3 teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning, add to taste.
2 cups Imitation Crabmeat, flaked
2 cups Cheddar Cheese, grated
4 Green Onions, sliced thin
1 or 2 loaves Italian Bread
Assorted fresh vegetables, crackers and/or toasted bread cubes for dipping.
Place softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl.
With an electric mixer, cream the cheese until smooth.
Add sour cream. Mix well.
Add Old Bay Seasoning, mix well.
Add flaked crab.
Add grated cheese.
Add thinly sliced onions.
Fold all ingredients together until mixed.
Prepare bread bowl, leaving one inch on all sides.
Spoon crab mixture into bread.
Top with remaining grated cheese, optional.
Place on baking sheet.
Place bread cubes in a single layer around the bowl.
Bake, uncovered, at 350F degrees for 30 – 40 minutes.
Remove from oven when dip is heated all the way through.
Garnish with green onions if desired.
Serve with fresh vegetables, crackers and/or toasted bread cubes.
Canned crab meat may be used instead of the Imitation Flaked Crabmeat. Use 2 of the 6 ounce cans. Drain it and remove any hard cartilage that might be in the cans before adding it to the bowl.
