Review: Carolina Cookers
Product: Pig Cookers
Location: Sanford, North Carolina
Yeah, we’re a bit prejudiced with this one; after all, it’s in the family. Still, I do hope you will check them out and see for yourself why Taste of Southern considers this to be the absolute BEST cooker you’ll find anywhere around. I’ll tell you my reasons for giving them such high ratings. Here’s the story.
My one and only, older brother, has spent most all of his career in the grocery store business. At one point, he owned a total of four stores in various cities around North Carolina.
When he opened his grocery store in Apex, North Carolina, he started selling whole pigs and hogs to customers that wanted to have a pig picking. One thing sort of led to another and before long, he was renting and selling these Carolina Cooker grills. He also loaded up the store with all varieties of BBQ Sauces, Rubs and those big cans of vegetables people use for catering and such. It wasn’t long before he became known as “Your BBQ Headquarters” and he promoted his store as just that.
As the pig cooker business grew, I developed a website for both the store and then for the cookers. I also designed and printed various flyers, brochures and business cards for both.
It was while I was doing research on pig cookers over the internet that I really began to see the big difference in these cookers and the other ones that were on the market. Then, when I started taking pictures for the brochures and gathering information for the website, it just further proved the point…this was one great cooker!
I visited lots of other websites, compared quality, compared construction and compared prices. I just never found anything else that I liked any better. I felt our cookers were better made and were at a much better price. I was glad that I was going to be designing a site for our cookers instead of trying to make a lesser cooker…look better.
Yes, you can find a cheaper cooker if that’s what you’re looking for. But seriously, I don’t think you’ll find a better deal for the price. And, I fully encourage you to do the same thing I did. Search around, in person, or on the internet and see for yourself. Then you’ll be ready to call Carolina Cookers.
Over the years, my brother would have various promotions and celebrations at his store. He loved promotions. Most of the time, he’d pull out a cooker and cook up some pig. He’d sell sandwiches for .88 cents or as he did most of the time, he’d just give them away for free.
I helped him more than once as we stood side by side, making BBQ sandwiches as fast as we could, complete with cole slaw and handing them out to the long lines of people waiting. It would go on non-stop, for hours and hours, until we ran out of product. It was tiresome, but fun.
Mr. Gordon, as we all affectionately call him, retired from the grocery store business around 2008. He turned the sales of the cookers over to his son Scott, my nephew. Scott loves to talk about the cookers and will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
So, I’ll not go into a lot of comparisons and other things here. As I mentioned, I might be a little biased on this one. Instead, let me point you to the website I created and still run for them and you just go look around for yourself. I hope you will agree.
Visit www.carolinacookers.com and take a look at all the
hard work, information that I’ve posted on their site. We’ve got lots of pictures and descriptions and all the pricing information you’ll need to compare our cookers to all the rest. I think you’ll like what you see, and when you’re ready, give my nephew or my brother a call. They’d love to talk with you.
You know you want one!
If you have any questions, just let me know.
Disclaimer: I was not compensated in any way for this totally biased review of Carolina Cookers. Unless you consider having partook of a fair amount of BBQ cooked on these cookers over the years as compensation. In that case, I’m guilty, but it sure was good!!! (Smile)
